The Recreation Park includes: Four lighted ball fields (two regulation size for adult leagues, and two for youth leagues), a two-story concession stand with a scoring/press box and restrooms, an open multi-purpose field for sports practices, and a 18-Hole Disc Golf Course. The park also has a group picnic area with a small shelter and several other picnic table clusters with grills.

The park is surrounded by a 1/2 Mile Walking/Jogging Path. Part of the path follows the Swannanoa River, where there are two platforms for viewing or fishing. Black Mountain Recreation Park also serves as an entrance to the Oaks Trail, a half-mile greenway segment that connects to Vance Avenue.
