Senior Lunch Site

The Lakeview Senior Center and the Buncombe County Council on Aging host a lunch Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 2:00.  This is a great opportunity for seniors to get out and meet new folks in the area, enjoy fellowship and a great meal! These meals are available to seniors over 60. Bingo is played every Thursday at 11.

*There is free transportation provided by Mountain Mobility.

Where:   Lakeview Senior Center
When:    Monday through Friday 10AM-2PM, lunch served at noon.

Lunch & Learn Minimize

Come join us once a month for a fun activity or lesson taught by an instructor, then stay for a good meal afterwards.

March 12, 11:00-2:00: The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) invites you to help keep in-need neighbors home warm this winter by making "Draft-Stoppers" (stuffed and decorated fabric tubes that are placed at the bottom of a door). The finished draft-stoppers will be distributed to individuals served by Meals on Wheels, Community Action Opportunities, and the Council on Aging. All supplies are provided and you are encouraged to take one home to help keep your own home warm. No crafting experience necessary. Free, lunch provided. YOU MUST CALL TO SIGN UP!

Mens Wisdom Works Minimize

 

FFebruary 22nd, 2:00-3:00: Men's Wisdom Works
 

MMen naturally will face transitional issues throughout their lives, including loss or change of career, retirement, moving, aging, death and grieving, illness, decreased libido and more. This group will work together on significant community service projects & will be the vehicle to help men bond and share their collective wisdom about men’s life transitions. Men’s Wisdom Works will benefit the community and help men develop strategies for regaining positive outlooks and more engaged lives.

TThis group is for men and will meet every other Monday starting February 22nd at 2:00pm

SHIP: Senior Health Insurance Program Minimize

Will Restart in March..one on one appointments can still be made by calling the office.

Every thursday from 9:30 am until 11:30 there will be a SHIP volunteer here at the Lakeview Senior Center to support seniors with questions regarding Medicare and/or Medicaid.  Help is provided with such things as: paying for prescriptions, questions on billing, filling a claim, understanding your bill and any other issue that you may be having with Medicare/Medicaid.

Advice is also available over the phone during this time period.  To set up an appointment, please call the Lakeview Center. 669-8610
